EFFICIENT INDOOR LIGHTING
|
Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
Consider switching traditional light bulbs with one of the Energy
Star certified compact florescent light bulbs. CFLs use 75% percent
less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to
10 times longer, which translates into more than $30 savings in electricity
costs for each light bulb. And since CFLs don’t produce as
much heat, they're much safer to use and may even cut summertime
cooling costs. There are different types, sizes and shapes of CPL
to meet every need from table and floor lamps to recessed lighting
to dimmer or three way switches. Ask your MyHome Design consultant
about which type of CPL is appropriate for each fixture in your home
to optimize energy savings while still achieving the type of lighting
you need.
CFL Statistics
| • |
CFLs are 4 times more efficient and last up to
10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. |
| • |
CFLs use 50-80% less energy than incandescent
bulbs. |
| • |
Replacing a single incandescent bulb
with a CFL will keep a half ton of co2 off of the atmosphere
over the life of the bulb. |
Dimmers
Dimmers not only allow you to set the perfect mood in your home,
but also help save money on energy costs by only using the exact
amount of lighting needed at any given time. You can also synch dimmers
with a programmable home automation system in which lights are turned
off when no one is in a room and turned on again when someone enters.
