TANKLESS WATER HEATERS
|
Traditional water heaters store
hot water for future use, which means once you’ve emptied the tank you have to wait for it to reheat
a new supply of water, or, if you haven’t used the hot water,
energy is needlessly wasted on a stand-by supply.
Modern gas-fired, tankless water heaters, often times called an instantaneous
or demand water heaters can be viable alternatives for energy conscious
homeowners. The demand heater provides endless streams of water and
heats it as needed while shutting off automatically when the water
supply is closed.
Tankless water heaters like those manufactured by Rinnai are much
more energy and water efficient and have a life expectancy of 25
years. (Traditional hot water tanks only last about 10 years.) And
since compact wall mounted units use about 16 square feet of floor
space, they make sense for the many urban and suburban dwellers who
want to conserve space as well.
