4 Inspiring Examples of The Mixed Cabinet Kitchen Trend

By Tiffany Smolick

This year we have seen a lot of materials paired with colored kitchen cabinets against white and neutral backdrops.  The following are four kitchens recently uploaded to our website. This trend isn’t NYC biased either; it’s emerging in kitchens across the country.

Example #1: Liberty Street, NYC

Designed by MyHome

The Client Request

To remodel a lackluster kitchen on-trend with a classic renovation and touches of glamour.

The Details

Dark gray cabinets (Craftline frameless flat door in Tabu veneer finish). Brushed satin nickel cabinet hardware and button lights. Quartz countertops in pure white finish. White wood natural stone backsplash. Our client wanted a sense of drama and loved how the gray cabinet color added contrast with all the neutral tones. The brushed satin hardware worked really well against the cabinet color. The dark cabinet color, pure white quartz counters and light walls made the space feel larger.

Special features: Wine refrigerator.

Example #2: West 66th Street, NYC

Designed by MyHome

The Client Request

A modern, simple, open and playful kitchen with a variation on farmhouse design and lots of functionality for a growing family.

The Details

Dark oak cabinets (Hanssem Cabinets in Rift Oak Sepia finish).  With polished chrome cabinet hardware featuring led tape under cabinet lights.  Caesarstone countertops in Staturio Maxima finish.  The dark oak cabinets and chrome fixtures mix both warm and cool hues to draw out a dynamic aesthetic amongst a neutral backdrop. The warmth of the exposed and subtle open shelving also helps bring this design together.

Special features: Open shelving.

This design helps to create a place where friends and family could come together any time. By executing an open layout with a simple color palette, we were able to accomplish a functional tie to the other points of the house and a visual connection to the living room.

Example #3: Bleecker Street NYC

Designed by MyHome

The Client Request

Open up a closed-off kitchen and increase functionality and efficiency.

The Details

Dark Grey and Frosty White cabinets mixed (Hanssem top cabinets in Neo Frosty White and Gray bottom cabinets).  Caesarstone countertops in Polished finish.  The backsplash is a 2” hexagon pattern in Metro White Glass.  The kitchen felt closed in, but by opening one wall and creating a more functional layout we were able to make the kitchen feel larger with the same amount of footage.

Special features: Under sink dishwasher by Fisher Paykel in Stainless Steel.
