HOW
SOLAR POWER WORKS
|
Solar or PV technology in NY & NJ is capable of seamlessly
transforming sunlight directly into electricity to meet any lighting,
heating, cooling, and other electrical needs just as a common electric
grid does.
When the sun’s rays hit the electric panels that MyHome will
install on your rooftop or on the grounds of your property, the
heat transfer generates direct current (DC). A special technology
inside the panels, called an inverter, alters the direct current
into alternating current (AC). AC is the current needed for most
common electrical systems. Keep in mind you will still be synched
to your traditional utility company in case your panels aren’t
providing enough electricity to live on but the energy provided
by solar power is more than enough to improve your overall energy
conservation:
In other words, when your usage exceeds the generation capacity
of your PV power system, your utility company provides electricity
as usual. However, in New York State, on days when your solar production
surpasses your usage, you can actually see your utility meter rotate
backwards as you amass credit from your utility company for the
excess energy you produce. |
