MYHOME
CREATES AMERICAN-MADE FURNITURE LINE TO RIVAL EUROPEAN BRANDS |
For years furniture from countries like Italy and Germany has
dominated the American market, showing up in the living spaces
of many affluent homeowners from Manhattan’s cultural elite
to Hollywood’s glitterati. However, despite the fact that
European labels are highly respected and come replete with lovely
qualifiers like “fine European craftsmanship,” this
doesn’t mean that Western Europe is the only place to buy
furniture that sets the bar for elegance and style.
While the allure of European labels like Snaidero, Poggenpohl,
or Siematic, are in high demand in the home design community,
these days many manufacturers are offering the same quality merchandize
with customizable options right here on American soil.
Or so contends New York’s own Mayan Metzler, President of
MyHome LLC, one of the fastest growing privately held companies
in America, according to “Inc Magazine.” And to disprove
the theory that Europe is the only place that quality furniture
abounds, Metzler has thrown his hat into the ring, offering high-end
furniture at better price points under MyHome’s new and
exclusive designer label.
“While names like Scavolini and Pedini roll off the pallet
rather smoothly, this doesn’t translate into better furniture,”
claims Metzler who initially launched the line to enhance the
full-service concept his company is known for.
In fact, Metzler doesn’t quite understand how the glamorization
of European furniture became so prevalent. “It’s amazing
how many successful and highly intelligent clients think that
you need to import these products and pay all of those extra fees
to get the best the world has to offer,” says Metzler. “We
wanted to offer world-class quality to show our clients that true
innovation begins at home.”
To make good on his word Metzler has recruited master craftsman,
Jim Loomis of JG Woodsmiths who is praised nationally for his
commitment to the legacy of quality craftsmanship passed down
by his American forbears. Loomis has worked for one of the industry’s
leading brands for years and knows all the ins and outs of producing
quality furniture that lasts. In fact, with 28 years of crafting
excellence under his tool belt, Loomis is uniquely qualified to
represent the MyHome team. Defined by “unshakeable strength,”
“meticulous attention to detail,” and durability superior
to European brands, Loomis’s MyHome furniture line promises
to bring back the respect and adulation that American-made products
deserve.
“Jim’s work is in such high demand because his ability
to collaborate with you to customize your own design is second
to none,” Metzler says. “You don’t get that
kind of service or quality overseas.”
MyHome premiers its new furniture line at the Architectural Digest
Home Design Show on March 8-11. With modern, clean-lined pieces
for the bedroom, living room, den and dining room, each item is
available in a variety of colors and sizes and come with MyHome’s
extensive warranty packages. All MyHome brand pieces are customized
to accommodate every need, including requests for upholstered
seating, and will be produced, sold, and installed by MyHome professionals.
The new line just marks the natural extension of a company committed
to providing anything homeowners could possibly imagine, from
kitchen design to full-scale construction work. And one look at
any of MyHome’s fully stocked showrooms displays the superlative
products and design samples that have made them one of the leading
design forces in New York City and beyond.
Moreover, the pinnacle of their full-service philosophy rests
on the idea that a consumer receives better service when one team
does all the work. “Isn’t it easier and more enjoyable
to have the same people you know and trust do everything for you?”
asks Metzler. “Why waste time with phone calls and outside
entities when you can have one contact person take care of everything?”
With this kind of service at MyHome’s disposal, it seems
European labels will have to figure out a way to stay more competitive
in the years to come.
“Of course we respect the European brands. We’ve been
working with them for years and are happy to provide them if that’s
what are clients desire. The truth is, we just saw a pathway to
an American alternative and seized the opportunity to provide
jobs and bolster our own economy in the process,” Metzler
says.
