How To Choose A Westchester Renovation Company

From new construction to renovation, there are thousands of remodeling projects underway in Westchester County and a staggering number of renovation contractors to choose from. Whether you want to remodel your commercial property or add siding to your Westchester residence, there’s a Westchester remodeling provider to meet your every need. But how do you find the right contractor for your particular job?

Before you hire a contractor, interview the individual or company about the following issues:
Make sure that the individual or company is properly licensed. Don’t be afraid to ask for proof of licensing as well as proof of insurance.
Ask the company to provide references. If you can, arrange to visit one of the contractor’s completed renovation projects.
Find out what kind of renovations they specialize in. Smaller companies and individual contractors tend to specialize in one type of renovation—for example, flooring or kitchen renovations. If you’re planning a ground-up construction you’ll want to hire someone experienced in all aspects of renovating a home.
Visit the business office. Nothing tells you more about a company’s professionalism than their corporate or business office. If its disorganized and chaotic, that tells you a lot about their level of professionalism.
Ask how the company will handle construction loan or bank documentation. A professional contractor will know the minimum loan and bank requirements and will be willing to work with you to make sure all documents are completed properly.
Make sure the company plans to provide you with a comprehensive quote and materials list. If they’re not willing to do this, find a different contractor. And make sure that they’ll base their estimates on a realistic analysis of the project and not on sheer guesswork.

Any professional Westchester contractor will be more than happy to answer any and all questions about the issues listed above. The important thing is that you have no doubts about the integrity of the individual or company you hire to renovate your home. And weeding out the professional from the unreliable contractor can be daunting and time-consuming.

That’s why so many Westchester property owners have turned to MyHome, the tri-state area’s first full service renovation provider. Regardless of what your goal is for your Westchester remodeling project, MyHome’s knowledgeable architects and craftsmen can help you to enhance your Westchester home or commercial property.
