MyHome Provides Full-Service Design to Riverdale Apartment Makeover
Originally, Hathy and Eric Worth had planned on selling their
239th Street Riverdale apartment in New York City. Ready for a change,
the Worths thought that selling was their only option even though they
weren’t ready to leave the neighborhood they loved.
Before putting the apartment on the market, at the encouragement of friends,
the Worths looked into remodeling. After some research, they discovered
it would actually be a smarter investment “move” to remodel
the home’s interior. And, by going the remodeling route, they’d
be able to stay in the neighborhood that had been home for so many years.
The Worths concentrated on remodeling the apartment’s kitchen,
living room and dining room area. Carrying with them modern design suggestions
from friend and architect Rick Daley of New York City, the couple moved
forward with plans to remodel. Worth met with contractors she “wasn’t
too crazy about” and finally discovered MyHome through a recommendation.
MyHome, LLC, is a New York City based full-service design, remodeling,
and construction firm.
Worth said she was pleased with how MyHome breaks down the entire remodeling
process into specialties. At MyHome, the very first specialist a clients
comes into contact with is a customer service representative. Any initial
questions and appointment scheduling is handled through that individual.
Once the details are ironed out, MyHome Remodeling Consultant works with
the client. Each consultant is extensively trained in design, layout,
materials and products.
With the Worth’s project, MyHome’s Remodeling Consultant
concentrated on joining the apartment’s existing kitchen with the
adjacent living room.
“
There really is something to be said about opening up a space,” said
Mayan Metzler, President of MyHome. “In this project, it made the
living areas inviting and comfortable. The joined rooms created a spacious
atmosphere, eliminating the choppy feel of the old layout."
According to Metzler, kitchen storage space was actually tripled after
the remodel. A pantry area was created, complete with interior wine racks,
to store a variety of items. The kitchen countertop, Blue Pearl granite,
was selected to compliment the modern maple cabinets, gray stone mosaic
backsplash and gray porcelain floor tile. In the living room space, MyHome
added track lights that required the work of the firm’s electricians
and construction team.
“MyHome has a team approach, which we implemented through both
our Midtown and Uptown offices. We do all the work for the client; design,
material
specification, shipping arrangements, demolition and everything that
comes up in-between,” said Vince Wisovitch, MyHome’s Chief
Marketing Officer. “We provide a full-service to our clients."
In the Worth apartment, after wiring and cable connections were exact,
a new cabinet niche with a glass surface was fabricated and installed.
In addition, behind the cabinet niche, MyHome designed a closet with
a hidden access door to store stereo equipment. The living room walls
were skim coated and painted with select tones to finish the project’s
distinct modern decorative elements.
“Right after I interviewed MyHome, I knew they’d stand by
their work,” said Worth. “I was impressed with the showroom,
all the products were high-quality. Customer service was also impressive.
I’d call and get a call back the very same day. I’m very
pleased with the end result.”
“Really, having the apartment finished and remodeled was my favorite
part of the whole process,” commented Worth. The apartment remodel
was completed in October after six months of designing, planning and
construction.
“Everyone loves the place,” she added. “I had always
wanted to do something with it. Now, I come home and I’m happy
to be there.”
Metzler stated: “The best part of the remodeling process is finishing
a job and having the client pleased with he work that was done. Every
job is treated as a portfolio piece. We don’t finish until we’re
proud of what’s been done.”MyHome, LLC is a New York City-based
