Manhattan Bath Revamped with Custom Blended Glass Tile from Hakatai
When Bryan Barreras purchased his Manhattan apartment last fall, it was in dire need of bathroom makeovers. The tiny bath spaces were definitely due for a modern “face-lift” and glass tile was the answer for a fresh, modern transformation.
With the help of Manhattan-based MyHome Renovation Solutions, a full-service
design firm, Barrera's utilized Hakatai Enterprises, Inc. glass tile
in his design. Measuring approximately seven square feet, the baths
were more accommodating to glass tile mosaics due to the space constraints.
One bathroom was expanded to include a full bath and shower as it originally only housed a stand-up shower. Hakatai custom blend glass mosaics in blue shades were used throughout the bathroom walls and on the tub surround.
“We expanded the wall slightly to fit a full size tub and incorporated
a vertical nook into the shower wall,” said Barrera's. “The
look I had in mind for the bathroom basically focused on glass tile.”
MyHome completed the bathroom renovation work in a three month time
frame, providing design consultation and actual installation. According
to Mayan Metzler of MyHome, Hakatai's affordable tile in combination
with the firm's ability to provide custom mosaic color blends made
it the most sensible choice for glass tile.

The
first step is to choose up to 10 colors from the Carter Glass Mosaic ¾” palette
of 51 colors. After each color has been dragged and dropped into the
designated slots, the customer chooses the percentages of each color
to be blended and clicks the ‘remix blend’button. The
computer, then randomly mix together the custom color choices and instantaneously
the newly created blend is displayed as a graphic on the screen.
“The customer had already determined that he wanted a glass mosaic
blend,” said Metzler. “The
fact that Hakatai provides a custom blend service made the firm's glass
tile perfect for this project.”
