Upon walking into this great New York loft one feels they have entered
an M.C. Escher drawing with a countless series of stairs that
appear to lead in every direction. This wonderful collaboration
of simplicity and modernism, have afforded the owners with
their own incredible New York fantasy.
Achieving this fantastic conceptual vision, MyHome collaborated with
architects from Downtown Group of New York to transform this one
level inadequately lit loft into a rare jewel. The space was nearly
tripled, going from a 1700 square foot loft to 5000 square feet of
luxury. Completed there are six levels, four bedrooms, four baths,
three sky lights, three roof decks, two fire places, two home-offices,
a Zen room and a most spectacular 40 foot ceiling inside the living
room. Bamboo, stainless steel, imported tiles, custom lighting systems,
custom welded railings, steel stairways, custom cabinetry, custom
windows and glass wall systems have all created a sophisticated modern
balance.
The remarkable transformation was accomplished by going up and out
of the building – blowing off the roof and expanding the living
space and usable outdoor space. Everything from the plumbing to the
heating and the electrical system was laid anew. The new roof which
was erected some 20 feet above the original and was constructed from
custom welded structural engineered steel that formed a perfect crescent
shape spanning a great 20 by 25 foot space. All these great and fine
specifics were created because neither detail nor imagination was
left untouched, everything that was envisioned became a reality.
