KITCHEN
DESIGN SERVICES - REMODELING TIMEFRAME
|
|

As you can imagine a lot goes into a kitchen remodeling project.
It is tricky for anyone to give you a definite answer on the exact time
it will take because a contractor must coordinate and schedule
deliveries of all the material and have them on-site in order to
complete the project. If the contractor is too optimistic, it may
mean he is not being honest or is not experienced enough. A good
answer should factor in everyone's schedule that's involved and
consider the time it takes to design, order and receive materials.
So, manufacturers' schedules must be considered in addition to
the contractors', trade professionals' and yours.

Planning,
Designing & Material Selection
This is the most critical part of the project and it starts
with one of our Certified Remodeling Consultant's walking around
your entire home with you to see how things look from different
angles and perspectives. We want to make sure that the rooms
will flow nicely with each other when they are complete. We
use our "Design Consideration Checklist" to help us fully understand
your specific needs. We thoroughly review what you like and
don't like about your current rooms, whether there are any
special requirements to accommodate children or someone with
disabilities, whether more storage space is needed,
and whether there are other activities in the room that need
to be considered in the overall layout. We want to know YOUR ideas
of what YOU want - YOUR vision coming into
the project, and then we'll add our expertise to make sure
you understand all your options so you can make the best-informed
decision for your needs.
At our first meeting, the Certified Remodeling Consultant will
take measurements so we can go to the drawing board (actually
the computer and our customized 2020 software application)
to start drawing your plans. And we do this all for FREE, whether
we spend 20 minutes or even 3 hours with you - unlike our competitors
who charge a nonrefundable fee anywhere from $500 to $2,500
just to speak with you. Even Home Depot won't give you the
time of day unless you drop a non-refundable deposit of $100.
This portion is completed when you approve the 2020 design
prepared by our Certified Remodeling Consultant and the specification
sheet has been completed. So, t his part of the schedule depends
almost entirely on the client. If the client is available and
ready to make fast decisions, the whole planning phase can
be completed within a 72 hours. Once we have a good idea of
the design that you like, the Certified Remodeling Consultant
will walk you through the options for your new cabinets, appliances,
plumbing fixtures, countertops, flooring, and lighting in order
to help you select materials don't leave you on your own to
try to figure out these tough choices yourself like other contractors
and the large home centers. After the materials specification
sheet has been completed, a final price will be established.
This will happen within 24 hours unless unique items were selected.

Fabrication
This part of the process is where your materials are being
prepared or manufactured. The timing will vary depending
on the products that were selected. Usually the kitchen cabinets
require the longest "lead time". Most stock cabinets will
be delivered within 4 to 6 weeks. Custom cabinets normally
will be delivered within 8 to 10 weeks, and some imported
cabinets may take as long as 16 weeks. Since speed is one
of MyHome's guiding principals we have developed relationships
that allow us to provide faster solutions. MyHome has an
exclusive arrangement as is the only Manhattan kitchen cabinet
dealer with an option of delivering a line of stock cabinets
within two days.

Summary
The first two phases may be completed as quickly as 5 to 7
business days depending on your availability, decision making
pace, and selection s . Some cases may last several months.
Phases 3 to 17 - Adding up all the above estimates, the construction
stage may last between 4 to 6 weeks without considering any
unexpected delays. ( U nexpected issues will inevitably arise
in every kitchen remodel ing project ). Nevertheless, by allowing
for a 4 to 6 week schedule, there are many times we to surprise
our clients and complete construction within 2 or 3 weeks -
although it is impossible to commit to that.
