Casement & Awnings for Windows
should have labeled visuals
Casement and awnings are hinged windows that have less air seepage
than sliding windows because the sash presses against the frame—almost
vacuum packing the opening.
Casement windows have hinges on the side of the window and screens
must be placed on the interior of the window unit.
Like casements, Awning windows are hinged, but at the top, and
also open outward. Their benefits are similar to those of casement
windows, meaning they have less air leakage and more ventilation
maneuverability
Casements and Awnings open outward, providing more ventilation
than sliding sashes of the same size. With a protruding sash from
the plane of the wall, these windows can catch temporary winds.
These are attractive options and are usually managed by a rolling
handle that allows you to manipulate ventilation to your liking.
