The Renovation Plan
The renovation at 350 West 50th Street focused on rebuilding the kitchen while maintaining the existing sink and plumbing location. The project began with the removal of the existing wall and base cabinets, countertops, flooring, sink fixtures, ceiling light, and appliances to prepare the space for its new design.
Rather than relocating the kitchen’s core plumbing, the plan used the existing configuration as the foundation for new cabinetry, surfaces, fixtures, flooring, electrical upgrades, and appliances. This allowed the renovation to concentrate on improving how the kitchen functions and feels within its established footprint.
Final Project Reveal + Photos
The completed kitchen brings together new wall and base cabinetry, countertops, flooring, sink fixtures, lighting, and appliances within a carefully coordinated layout. Cabinetry was installed according to the new kitchen design, including doors, drawers, shelving, hinges, and supporting components, while the countertops were templated specifically for a precise fit.
Behind the finished surfaces, the renovation also introduced updated GFCI backsplash outlets, a new light switch and ceiling fixture, a dedicated 220V electrical line for the new electric range, and new hot and cold shut-off valves at the sink.
A key part of this project was working strategically with the kitchen’s existing infrastructure. Keeping the sink in its established location while coordinating new cabinetry, countertops, electrical requirements, and appliances allowed the space to be comprehensively updated without unnecessary changes to the plumbing layout.
Kitchen Cabinetry & Countertop Installation
The kitchen received new wall and base cabinetry installed according to the redesigned layout, with plywood substrate added where needed to securely support the wall cabinets. Doors, drawers, shelves, hinges, and accessories were coordinated as part of the installation, followed by precisely templated countertops and finishing details such as crown and baseboard molding where required.
Plumbing & Electrical Upgrades
The renovation updated essential kitchen infrastructure alongside the visible finishes. New sink fixtures, drainage components, and hot and cold shut-off valves were installed at the existing plumbing location, while the electrical scope included upgraded GFCI backsplash outlets, a new light switch and ceiling fixture, and a dedicated 220V line for the new electric range, ensuring the renovated kitchen could support its updated fixtures and appliances.
