New York Bathroom Remodeling: Warm Up Your Floors

June 19, 2010

If you live in Westchester, you are probably aware of how uncomfortable it can be to step out of the bath or shower in the dead of winter onto a cold floor. Sure, you could use a rug but wouldn’t it be much more comfortable to step out onto a floor that is already toasty warm? This is the reason that so many people are considering New York bathroom remodeling to add radiant heat flooring into their Westchester bathrooms.

Before You Begin
Before beginning your Westchester bathroom remodeling project, you’ll need to consider the type of flooring that would be best suited for your bathroom. Marble, stone, porcelain, ceramic, glass, and slate are all ideal materials for radiant heat flooring because they’re excellent heat conductors.

Which Heating System Is Best?
The next step is to select the type of heating system you want to use in your Westchester bathroom remodeling job. There are several different ways to heat your floors, all of which your New York contractor is happy to discuss with you.

One of the most popular options is radiant heat. A radiant heat system uses electric resistance, steam pipes, or hot water in order to heat your floors. Radiant heat is also an environmentally friendly option because there are fewer greenhouse gasses produced by this system than by any other option.

An open direct system uses the same source of hot water that your laundry and bathing systems use. Open direct systems are cost-effective because they eliminate the need to install another hot water heater. In a closed system, heat is available when the pump is turned on for the thermostat. An indirect system uses a heat exchanger to transfer heat to the floor through hot water.

So if you’re tired of stepping out onto cold floors during our harsh New York winters, consider heating your bathroom floors. MyHome will develop a system for you that will keep your floors toasty warm until spring. If you want to remodel your Bathroom, we’re happy to help you through the process! Contact us Today!
