Design Your Dream Kitchen

In New York City especially, the kitchen is at the heart of the home. It is where we cook, where we gather before and after meals, and it’s often also where we actually serve and consume our meals. Whether company is joining you or you are preparing a quiet meal for your family, a customized kitchen is the height of happiness for any chef. And if you are looking for more than just a simple remodel, and you have the budget to support it, a luxury kitchen remodel may be exactly what you’re looking for.

A major element in any luxury kitchen makeover is custom cabinetry. Beautiful cabinetry adds as much beauty and charm to a space as any furniture piece might, and as cabinets are highly customizable, it’s easy to get exactly what you want for your kitchen. When you make the decision to have custom cabinetry installed, you have a myriad of choices in materials, finishes, and fronts. Further, as the owner of the kitchen and the chef that uses it the most, you know exactly how much storage space you need. With optional accessories such as drawers, cabinet inserts, and storage areas, you’ll have cabinets that fit your specific lifestyle, needs, and design taste.

Countertops are an integral part of any kitchen. Granite counters are the highest quality and least destructible countertop material available and is the choice in most luxury kitchen remodels due to its complete resilience to heat, and its capability to resist scratching. Though granite is available in a wide range of natural colors, it is not necessarily the top choice for chefs with an eye for design who prefer the look of a wooden butcher block in the kitchen.

Though butcher blocks are not as resilient as granite, they are less expensive to install and easily replaced. Occasional sanding of the top of the butcher block is a common form of maintenance to the product a it gives the surface a new look and prolongs the need for replacement.

Some chefs with artistic eyes may also opt for tile countertops, which come in many patterns from designers and lend a unique and personalized look to the kitchen space. However, in that tiles are not made from a single piece of material, they can be more difficult to keep clean than their granite or butcher-block competitors.

If your luxury kitchen redesign has a seemingly endless budget, the finest gadgets and appliances should absolutely be a feature of the new kitchen. This includes a professional grade gas stove and oven, a subzero refrigerator, a garbage compactor, multiple dishwashers, a temperature controlled wine rack, and possibly an additional refrigerator and freezer. Even more elaborate add-ons might include an indoor grill, a wood-burning pizza oven, or a deep fryer.

Like any luxurious space, the luxury kitchen must be finished with an artful touch. If you yourself are not an artist, consider hiring one to create a custom look to your kitchen through creation or implementation of art that will fit your personal style and will enhance the space you’ve created in your luxury redesign.
