The Renovation
At 353 4th Avenue, the kitchen was designed around making efficient use of its corner layout while creating a stronger relationship with the adjoining dining area. The finished design uses cabinetry across the available wall space, including corner storage, while positioning the sink directly into the corner to preserve usable countertop and cabinet space around it.
White Shaker cabinetry establishes the kitchen’s foundation, complemented by gray countertops, chrome hardware, stainless-steel appliances, and a distinctive hexagonal backsplash. Together, these elements create a coordinated kitchen without sacrificing the storage required within the compact footprint.
Final Project Reveal
The completed kitchen opens directly into the dining area rather than feeling visually separated from it. A sculptural chandelier defines the dining zone, while the kitchen uses under-cabinet lighting to illuminate the countertops and backsplash. The combination creates separate layers of lighting for food preparation, everyday use, and dining.

White Shaker Cabinetry & Corner Storage
White Shaker cabinets extend around the kitchen with a combination of drawers, base cabinets, upper cabinets, and corner cabinetry to maximize available storage. The corner sink makes use of an otherwise challenging part of the layout, while chrome pulls and knobs coordinate with the modern chrome faucet and stainless-steel appliances.
Hexagon Backsplash & Layered Lighting
A gray-toned hexagonal tile backsplash creates the kitchen’s primary pattern and runs between the countertops and upper cabinetry. Integrated under-cabinet lighting highlights its geometric texture while providing direct illumination over the work surfaces, and the adjoining dining area’s statement chandelier adds a second, more decorative layer of lighting.
