516 West 47th Street Kitchen & Bathroom Renovation

This Hell’s Kitchen apartment renovation centered on two of the home’s most important spaces: the kitchen and bathroom. MyHome rebuilt both with new finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and carefully planned functional improvements, while additional work throughout the apartment refreshed the existing hardwood floors, lighting, walls, and ceilings.

The Renovation Plan

The renovation called for much more than a cosmetic update.

In the kitchen, the existing cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, sink fixtures, lighting, and most appliances were removed while the existing hardwood flooring and refrigerator were retained. The new design introduced wall and base cabinetry, countertops, backsplash tile, under-cabinet lighting, updated appliances, and a dedicated bar area beside the range. The soffit above the refrigerator was also extended to align with the depth of the new cabinet above it.

The bathroom underwent a complete tub-to-tub renovation. Existing tile, tub, vanity, toilet, medicine cabinet, fixtures, lighting, and accessories were removed. The rebuilt space incorporated new waterproofing, floor and wall tile, a new tub and shower system, vanity, toilet, medicine cabinet, recessed lighting, storage details, and updated accessories.

Beyond these two rooms, the project also included refinishing the apartment’s existing hardwood flooring, removing the popcorn ceiling, painting, adding electrical work for a wall-mounted TV, and installing a new ceiling fan.

Final Project Reveal

The completed renovation brings the kitchen and bathroom together through a restrained material palette and carefully considered details.

Rather than changing elements simply for the sake of change, the project retained features that could remain—including the kitchen’s hardwood flooring and existing refrigerator—while concentrating the renovation on cabinetry, surfaces, fixtures, lighting, storage, and the technical work behind them.

Two areas, in particular, show how detailed planning shaped this renovation: the redesigned kitchen and its added storage, and the fully rebuilt bathroom.

Kitchen Renovation with Custom Storage

The kitchen was rebuilt with Storm-stained walnut slab cabinetry, Caesarstone countertops, and a staggered tile backsplash, with practical storage integrated throughout. A Glideware pull-out was added for pots and pans, a dedicated bar area was created beside the range, and the soffit above the refrigerator was extended to align with the new cabinetry for a more cohesive finish.

Complete Bathroom Renovation

The bathroom was fully rebuilt with new floor and full-height wall tile, waterproofing, a new tub and shower system, vanity, medicine cabinet, and recessed lighting. A recessed shower niche, corner shelf, and floating shelves beside the toilet added purposeful storage while making better use of the compact bathroom footprint.

A Hell’s Kitchen Renovation by MyHome

At 516 West 47th Street, the renovation extended beyond selecting new finishes. Cabinet dimensions had to work with existing conditions, the kitchen soffit was modified around the new cabinetry, existing hardwood floors were retained and refinished, and the bathroom was rebuilt with new waterproofing, plumbing fixtures, lighting, tile, and integrated storage.

These are the details that turn a collection of individual upgrades into one coordinated renovation.
